Giovanni Volpato
1733 Bassano – 1803 Rom
Steinmetz. 1760/62 Schüler des C. Remondini in Bassano, stach zunächst Bildnisse und Veduten. Folgte dann Bartolozzi nach Venedig. 1772 in Rom ansässig, um u.a. im Auftrag G. Hamilton's einige Blätter für die "Schola Italica pivturae" zu stechen sowie sich an der Ausführung der Farbstiche nach den Raffaelschen Stanzenbildern im Vatikan zu beteiligen. Gründete in Rom eine Kupferstecherschule, aus der R. Morghen hervorging und 1786 eine Porzellanfabrik in Via Pudenziana. Signierte mit dem französischen Spitznamen "Renaud".
